"Snowed-in-fin"

Films: Snow Shark-Ancient Snow Beast (2011)

Alias: None

Type: Ancient

Location: Forest

Height/Weight: That of an average great white.

Affiliation: Neutral

Summary: Land sharks might be the most scary thought of them all. Imagine the deadliest predator in the sea suddenly being miles away from the water just so it can chew up all that live elsewhere. It sounds terrifying, and even when done really cheaply, it still feels that way...sort of...

History: Somewhere in the winter forests of New York, something is killing all the local wildlife and the people that visit. Scientists have observed the cause, and it's a prehistoric shark freed by global warming that inexplicably has the ability to burrow through the ground and snatch things up. In order to kill the newly-dubbed snow shark, the people will need to pull out all the stops before more needlessly die.

Notable Kills: Nothing special.

Final Fate: After several plans fail, the snow shark is finally killed when a man blows both himself and the beast up. However, while someone is visiting a graveyard, another fin cuts through the ground...

Powers/Abilities: Can burrow through the Earth, its fin able to tear through the surface.

Weakness: Anything conventional.

Scariness Factor: 2.5-The effects are not all that great, but it's a step up from much of the other low-budget guff this year. On top of that, while it's not the most efficient hunter, the idea of a razor-toothed beast tunneling its way towards unsuspecting prey has been around since Graboids, and it proudly carries on the tradition. That is, whenever the director isn't too embarrassed to put the lifeless prop onscreen, that is.

Trivia: -There are a few fish that can survive in cold temperatures, like koi or the appropriately named icefish. The great white is not one of them, though there are some sharks that do thrive.

-This film was based on a short done all the way back in 2004.
